All About Leading Change ft. Megha & Minha

Over the 2020 winter break, several Stanford undergraduates started a free-of-cost virtual learning and mentorship program for South Asian students called the South Asian Winter Camp (SAWC). The organisation SAWC was launched by Megha Parwani (Philosophy & Politics at Stanford University) and Minha Khan (Sociology & Education at Stanford University), who were concerned about education in South Asia, especially as it relates to COVID-19.

Consequently, they spent their winter break not taking classes but teaching them, curating innovative online classes and culturally relevant mentorship for over 400 South-Asian youth. Their idea was to put together a class that would not feel like a class – where students would get the opportunity to learn from senior students from across the globe, who love what they study, through highly-engaging modules like ‘History of the Hero through Bollywood’ and ‘Understanding Gender Roles through Media.’
